Cherufe - Guardian of Lore

The Cherufe is the Chilean parallel of the Medieval Dragon, originating from Mapuche culture. It is a powerful being that causes volcanic eruptions. In order to be appeased, the ancients used to sacrifice virgins to it, and it was said that the Cherufe gave them power.

The Cherufe is a main boss in Guardian of Lore, and I was in charge of its character concept and Hand-Painted texturing.

The first exploratory sketches were always done in color to get a feel for the lava and rock textures that the Cherufe was made of.

WIth feedback from the team, I implemented more mock-jewelry and clothing into the Cherufe's design, to make it belong more to the Mapuche culture.

This sketch was done to get a feel of how big the Cherufe would be compared to the player character when in-game
